Should You Do A Personal Training Internship?

Should You Do A Personal Training Internship?

Dear Friend,

Recently, I’ve received a lot of questions about whether or not trainers should do any sort of internship… is it worth it?  Does it give you an advantage?

Well, I’m about to explain exactly what you should do… and… how to determine if an internship is right for you or just a waste of time.

Let’s go…

Listen up: for the most part, internships are a total waste of time!  However, there are a few exceptions which totally justify taking a little time to do an internship or something that is similar to an internship.

Here’s what I mean… If you are a relatively new trainer (or even an experienced trainer) but you either aren’t getting the clients, income or even results with your clients you want, then…

You Should Consider an Internship

But… in my opinion I wouldn’t do a “traditional” internship.  Instead, I would do a “mentorship” program of some sort…

And here’s why: Traditional internships often have you “shadow” a few trainers at a gym so you can “get a feel” for what it’s like to be a trainer.

But here’s the problem with that:  You’re often shadowing trainers that have no idea how to build a business or even how to train great.  In essence…

You’re learning BAD HABITS from
other trainers, which will slow you down!

On the other hand, when you find a mentor who has the results you want you can be sure you will learn legitimate skills that will help you succeed quickly.

For example, when I teach trainers they know I am making over $80,000.00 per year and only working 3-4 days per week.  And that’s really important because they know what I’m teaching them works now and that I’ve tested it in “real life”.

You see, any time you decide to listen to someone (for any reason) you’d better be sure they know what they’re talking about.  And the best way to do that is to look at the results in their life.

For example…

If someone says they can teach you to be a millionaire… they better be a millionaire themselves.  It’s that simple.

So now what about brand new trainers?  Should they get an internship?  To tell you the truth… no.  Not unless you are absolutely self-conscious and you have little to no confidence.

Here’s the thing… when you’re a new trainer the only thing you lack is practice and some knowledge.  Both of these can easily be done and mastered within a few weeks IF you have the right source of information.

Here’s how…

You find the best trainers with
proven results and you learn from them!

You actually seek them out and either work for free or pay them for their knowledge.  I know this sounds like an internship, but it’s very different because you are learning from a coach or mentor who you have researched.  You are not just “blindly following” other trainers at a gym that gives you an internship.

There is a big difference.

A good coach or mentor will help you with the following areas:

  1. Training Techniques
  2. Client bonding and retention
  3. Lead generation
  4. Sales and Marketing
  5. Business building
  6. Branding
  7. Developing training programs
  8. Nutrition coaching
  9. Finding the right gym
  10. Developing programs in addition to training for additional revenue streams
  11. Finding your training style or specialties
  12. And more

In fact, these are the areas I cover in my special e-class … and it only takes 8 weeks to discover how to build your business fast and become a world-class trainer.

Is this an internship?  No way… it’s so much better.  And it doesn’t matter if you’ve never even trained a client before because you’ll know exactly what to do and how to do it better than 99% of veteran trainers out there today.

I wouldn’t waste your time with an internship because you’ll most likely pick up bad-habits that only slow you down.

Sincerely,
Stu

P.S. – Hundred of trainers have taken my e-class and 93% of them start making $4,000 or more a month in just six months!  And you can test drive the e-class for free here!
